WiMAX baseband device for mobile PCs

The MB86K23 Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME), a company represented in Spain by Anatronic, SA, is a device for baseband Mobile WiMAX has been designed to meet the requirements of the mobile PC market.

EThe new device represents the next generation of successful model MB86K21, is certified by the WiMAX Forum ™ and WiMAX is aimed at embedded applications on PC or mobile WiMAX PC cards.
The MB86K23, which comes in a package of 10 x 10 mm, reduces the chipset area sixty percent compared to its predecessor. The combination in an RF device MB86K52 chipset and power management device helps develop MB39C316 very small formats like 20 x 40 mm for WiMAX USB dongles or 30 x 26,8 mm Card PCI Express Half-Mini possessing functionality WiMAX and Wi-Fi. That is why ODM vendors are already planning the launch of products that benefit from the advantages of WiMAX baseband device.
The use of technology for 65 nm CMOS process in the manufacture of MB86K23 also helps reduce power consumption during operation compared to previous generation products. The new device also benefits from technology 'power-gating CoolAdjust PG', jointly developed with Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. This combination allows shutdown circuit blocks that are not in use, making the WiMAX module standby current is less than 0 , 5 mA and contributing to longer battery life in mobile WiMAX products.
WiMAX, access to high speed Internet anywhere and at anytime becomes a reality. Furthermore, in the near future are expected to provide PC functionality mobile WiMAX as a standard feature.
