SingTel Group selects Alcatel-Lucent to test LTE

Alcatel-Lucent has been selected as one of the suppliers of Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) Group testing for LTE (Long Term Evolution), starting in the first half of 2010. These tests will be the start of the deployment of 4G LTE network of SingTel Group, a leading telecommunications operator in Asia with a regional base of over 273 million mobile users.
The results of regional trials coordinated, to be held in Singapore, Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines share Optus, Australia subsidiary wholly owned by SingTel, and SingTel partner in Indonesia (Telkomsel), Thailand (AIS), Philippines (Globe), India (Bharti Airtel), Bangladesh (PBTL) and Pakistan (Warid).
Alcatel-Lucent will build on its experience in LTE systems industry leader to provide end to end solution which includes the Radio Access Network (Eutr), The Evolution of Packet Backbone EPC (Evolved Packet Core), the Network Element IP service routing, and systems of Operation, Administration and Maintenance (OAM). Alcatel-Lucent will also provide professional services including project management, activities planning, installation, commissioning and integration, and implementation of test plan.
This new test is an additional demonstration of leadership that plays Alcatel-Lucent in the emerging market of LTE systems.

"We have shown that our solution is prepared to respond to the challenges of the requirements of existing and future networks, which allow users to access content more complex at higher speeds.
LTE is a new wireless broadband technology that provides a data communications speeds significantly higher, with a potential to deliver hundreds of Mbps in the downstream channel and several tens of Mbps in the upstream channel, and reduced latency. This will allow end users to access content more complex at higher speeds, making global interconnections and improve the efficiency of communications.
