Indra modernizes air traffic management in Peru
Indra Systems modernize air traffic management in Peru, giving their airports the possibility of significantly increasing the number of flights operated and while ensuring the highest level of security in civil aviation. The company will launch a new control center air traffic in Lima and deploy a network of stations of secondary surveillance radar, which will cover almost all the country's airspace. The project has been awarded to Indra by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) international public tender, which competed with major companies and industry consortia worldwide. The proceeds of 34 million dollars (USD) and their implementation will run until December 2011.
Regarding the new control center to be managed by the Peruvian Corporation of Airports and Commercial Aviation (CORPAC), Indra coordinate the construction of the facility in Lima and establish a system of air traffic management Aircon 2100.
The control center will include a system developed entirely by 2100 Aircon Indra controllers provide an overall unified Peruvian sky. The solution combines information on the position of the aircraft, the flight plan for each of them, their history and predefined target and provide meteorological information. Will also provide ground-air communications with the pilot.
Indra also equip the center with a centralized communication system for coordinating the controllers of the control center and the towers of the airports with ground personnel, emergency services and airports in third countries.
The control center will have accurate and current civil air traffic collected at eight stations that Indra will deploy throughout the country. This network will cover 90% of Peruvian airspace.
Each of these stations will have a Mode S secondary radar, Indra's own development, which is capable of interrogating the aircraft to detect its position, get your user ID and the height at which flies, among other data. The accuracy and quality of data will increase traffic and improve safety.
Finally, Indra will implement an advanced training center where experts will prepare the company's technicians and drivers. It is estimated that it will pass through more than 200 professionals and have a simulator for air traffic management that will allow them to train with Aircon 2100.
With this contract, Indra continues to strengthen its presence in Peru where it has already developed projects for banks, telecommunications companies and for the defense sector.
