Increases RF tags sold to protect fresh foods

act8n58Checkpoint Systems, a leading provider of anti-theft systems, has seen a major increase in sales of its 2010 RF label called Label Food, fresh food. The growth of sales, the company says is a direct consequence of the recent increase in thefts of these products.
The current economic downturn is encouraging other forms of theft and taking action on the part of retailers. Is increasing theft of basic goods and majority profile of the thief is not professional. The Spanish Confederation of Commerce has warned that keeping the "spiral" of sluggish consumer market over the next six months in 2009 could disappear up to 10% of the sector, which would mean the closure of an estimated 60,000 and the loss of between 25,000 and 30,000 jobs. The last months of 2008 have left consequences in the commercial sector, with significant declines in sales.
The latest Global Theft Barometer, produced by the Center for Retail Research in Nottingham, reveals that in 2008, shrinkage amounted to 2,510 M € in Spain. This represents 1.31% of sales in this sector and an increase of 2.3% over 2007 (1.28% of sales). Spanish Each family pays € 195 a year more for these losses, equivalent to 70 € per person. The shrinkage in Spain has gone from 1.28% in 2007 to 1.31% in 2008.
The Barometer of 2009, to be presented later this year, will show without doubt one of its most negative, with a marked increase in theft.

The response of retail
Without protection systems shrinkage, establishments are increasingly theft.
