R&S SCx8000 compact TV transmitter

prod1n57Rohde & Schwarz creates a new performance standard with its R & S SCx8000, TV transmitter more compact and powerful in the market segment of low to medium power. Although it has been developed specifically for digital TV standards such as ATSC, ATSC Mobile DTV, DVB-T, DVB-H and MediaFLOTM, the R & S SCx8000 also works for analog TV standards.

Besides offering excellent price / performance and innovative new concepts of redundancy for its power class, highly integrated design reduces infrastructure costs, leasing and installing high efficiency while saving energy. This combination of features makes it easier and cheaper installation tasks, extension and renewal of networks by network operators and mobile broadcasting.
The compact design of the R & S SCx8000 is a direct result of minimizing the number of components required rack. This has been achieved by implementing a concept of air-based cooling modules, eliminating the need for a central cooling system in the rack, and integrating an RF splitter and a combiner in amplifier modules. New concepts of redundancy for the exciter and amplifier also minimizes the space needed and improve availability. The transmitter can be switched from analog transmission to digital at any time by remote control or manually. This flexibility is an important advantage, especially in the transition phases. The power output stage of the R & S SCx8000 precorrection is supplied with a broadband digital standard required by the client, the "set & go". This eliminates the need for manual precorrection site and allows the transmitter to operate faster.
The R & S series employs the new driver SCx8000 R & S Sx801, which can be controlled and monitored through the screen. The transmitter for UHF range offers an output power up to 450 W (ATSC / ATSC Mobile DTV) or 300 W (DVB-T, MediaFLOTM) with an amplifier. When using a second amplifier with an integrated combiner can reach up to 900 W (ATSC / ATSC Mobile DTV) or 600 W (DVB T, MediaFLOTM).
The new concept of redundancy of backup prevents failure of excitatory transmission by using only two drivers and no control unit in the transmitter. This reduces costs and saves space.
Depending on model, are also embedded in the amplifier a refrigeration unit and a switch driver or a power combiner, which saves even more space. The ultra-compact system with an amplifier requires only four units of height of 19 inches. This accommodates more amplifiers in the rack, reducing costs for infrastructure, leasing and installation. Thanks to an operating efficiency up to 22%, the new family of transmitters significantly lower energy costs over the lifetime of the system. This level of energy saving sets new standards in the market for this power range.
The amplifiers of the family R & S SCx8000 are supplied with two power supplies. This means that the amplifier can remain operational with reduced power in case of failure of one of the two power supplies. A third source of power can be integrated to provide a 2 +1 redundancy. This concept ensures a continuous transmission without power loss in case of failure of one of the two power supplies.
